ICELAND: The Wedding Day

I've been sort of putting off posting all of the photos from our wedding day. It's not that I haven't wanted to share them with you-- I haven't had a moment to really pore over all of them myself. I just wanted some time to soak it all in and enjoy them before putting them up here. Some time to reflect, some time to cry, some time to repeat over and over "I JUST WANT TO GO BACK!"

All Bundled Up

Philly, Fashion, blog
Working exclusively from home now means I look like this most of the time. Black denim, some sort of band tee, and Docs. If I even go outside, that is. To be honest, it gets kind of depressing. It's given me a chance to take a look at why I wear the clothes I do though, and I've learned something: I take myself too seriously. When I got dressed this morning, I didn't try to impress anyone. I wore what I wanted to. I don't think I'm going to be on the cover of Vogue any time soon but it was a worthwhile experiment.

Portraits, Observations, Advice

I wanted to share some photos that I took with Ashley Jensen, a local photographer. When I got them back, I realized how little I truly know about myself. I love taking other people's portraits and take them so intentionally that they tell a story. Ashley is a fantastic photographer and her captures without a doubt tell some kind of story-- mine just got lost on me. I'd be lying if I said I've been having a "great time." My life is falling apart in a way. But in an even bigger way, good things need to fall apart so better things can come together. I've been viewing myself through shattered glass so to see myself put together was like seeing a wide-eyed stranger. It got me thinking about who I am. What I'm about. And how I got here. It was (mostly) nice to meet me, make some candid observations, and share some advice.

ICELAND: The Video

I promise I'll post more photos but for now, take a look at some of the "highlights" from our trip. Violet did an amazing job. I love that we get to re-live our little trip every time we watch this! (I pretty much cry the whole time. Every time.)

Vacation Style

River, Island, Palazzo, Pant, crop, top, vintage, Philadelphia, style, fashion, PhillySorry for being MIA these past few days. It's been a bit turbulent over here. I knew 2016 would bring a lot of changes but I didn't know they'd be happening so rapidly! We're barely over two weeks into January already everything has changed. More on that at a later time. Lets focus on these amazing wide-leg trousers.

Locals Only: Charlie's Jeans

philadelphia, style, fashion, blog, sebastian, mccallI loathe jean shopping. I loathe it almost as much as bathing suit shopping. No-- I think I hate it more because I've somehow avoided buying a new swimsuit for the last few years. When Charlie's Jeans asked me if I wanted to come in and try on some of their signature Sebastian McCall denim, I welled up with anxiety. Luckily my love for Philly-based businesses is stronger than my hatred for my thighs in some new denim. Charlie's promised to make the process painless and boy, did they deliver. May I say, my booty has never looked so choice.

ICELAND: Day One

Oh, Iceland. How I love thee. I've said it before but I'd move there in a heartbeat. Going through all these photos has got me wandering around expat forums, looking for jobs and pricing out apartments. (You know-- just educating myself!) Apologies for posting the photos out of order. I originally wasn't planning on sharing all of them but since they came out so utterly fantastic, I had to. These are pictures from our first day on the island. If we look a little dead around the eyes, it's because our red-eye flight got in around 7AM. We waited in line for our rental cars for about an hour then headed straight to Reykjavík. So yeah, we were pretty sleepy and very, very hangry.

Coffee with Friends

Slowly but surely posting all of the photos from the wedding and trip, including these we took before even heading to the airport. Violet and I have been online friends since I was 16. Flickr and our love of Eisley and Blythe Dolls brought us together. She and her husband Grant only had a short time in Philly so we maximized their time with us by bringing them to our favorite coffee joint. We had breakfast, fancy lattes, and good conversation. Grant snapped some candids. (And some not-so-candids.)

Grandpa Sweater

I've been practicing intention in everything: that includes my casual wear. For me, it's always been easy to get dressed up. I opt for structured skirts or flowing tops because they conceal my various insecurities. These are the things I gravitate toward when I'm shopping. It's a little more difficult to hide behind jeans and a tee so I rarely think to buy them, therefore I don't have a lot of them. I also have a hard time being creative with my "coffee shop" or "errand running" attire so experimenting with textures and patterns is something I need to start doing more often.
