Habibi

حبيبي: My beloved. It was this lady's birthday the other day. We got dressed up, ate some tacos, had some margaritas, and laughed a lot. Life is so great when you have a best friend to laugh at incredibly dumb things with.

Around the House

I love the appreciation that my roommates have for details. Our little living space is filled with so many gems. Having trouble making your house into a home? Some plants, throw pillows, books, and pretty bottles seem to be the key.

Baby Blue and Some Strawberry Ice Cream

Sometimes, a non-dairy strawberry cone from Franklin Fountain is just necessary.

A Pink & Black Wedding

Why not start your Tuesday morning with some cute photographs of some folks in love? Last Friday (the 13th!) was my first "official" wedding of the season. I wouldn't want to kick off wedding season any other way. I'm blessed to call EJ & Katie my friends and I had a blast capturing their big day. I feel like I say this about all of my weddings but I really do get to work with some fantastic people. Here are a couple of their portraits, enjoy!

Hello, Summer

We didn't have a proper spring, which is quite upsetting. It was hot as hades today. The kind of heat that makes the amount of time you spent on your hair in the morning absolutely irrelevant after stepping outside for a few minutes. For whatever reason, I still thought that wearing black pants was a good idea. Why do we do the things we do sometimes? I don't know, but I'm SO ready for winter. (Can you tell?)

Gin & Tonic with Rose

So, I haven't shared a cocktail recipe in a minute. This is partly due to the fact that cocktail features did poorly on my reader survey. Of course I want to make you guys happy so I haven't been posting them as much, however, they're a ton of fun so... call it selfishness, call it rebellion, I'm going to let one slip through the cracks every now and then. This one is great. If you're not much of a drinker, the gin could be substituted with lemonade and it would still be excellent. Because it's only three ingredients, this one would be good in a pitcher for spring evening soirees.

What you'll need:
  - Gin
  - Tonic
  - Rose Water (here's a good recipe)

So simple, right? Just mix equal parts gin, rose water, and tonic in a glass with ice. It's incredibly refreshing with a ton of great floral notes.

Perfect for warm nights outside on the patio, deck, balcony, family room, kitchen, dining room, living room... bathroom? Wherever you want to sip, I don't judge-- just remember to drink responsibly!

Dreaming of Sun

beach tunes by E.M. Ricchini on Grooveshark

1    /    2    /    3    /    4    /    5

The weather has been pretty nasty. Hot, overcast, humid... yuck, yuck! I hate the heat but I love the sun. Having the former without the latter is an abomination and as a result, I'm somewhat miserable. Wouldn't you be as well if by the time you walked to work, your hair was plastered to your face via sticky sweat? No fun. I'm looking outside at this somewhat gloomy day and dreaming of soaking up the sun by the ocean. Soon, yes, very soon. Until then, I'll dream of it and listen to some beach tunes.

Brown, Black, Blue

Tonight will certainly be an interesting blend of "First Friday Shenanigans" meets "Overnight Shift." Glasses and comfy pants, blazer and heels. Makes sense, no?

A Little Bit New

You may have noticed that I haven't been around much this past week. Can you see why now? It's been an exciting few days. A harrowing journey in a sense, but exciting nonetheless. I've been exploring, decorating, putting together Ikea furniture, laying awake at night, shopping for "grown up" things, working... doing basically everything but blogging. Now that the week is coming to a close and I finally have a chance to sit down, I'm crashing hard. It's 11:00 and my usual night-owl self is 1,000% ready for bed but I HAD to share this important little update with you all before I tuck myself in for the night. Here's to new beginnings! See you guys tomorrow.
