I've been practicing intention in everything: that includes my casual wear. For me, it's always been easy to get dressed up. I opt for structured skirts or flowing tops because they conceal my various insecurities. These are the things I gravitate toward when I'm shopping. It's a little more difficult to hide behind jeans and a tee so I rarely think to buy them, therefore I don't have a lot of them. I also have a hard time being creative with my "coffee shop" or "errand running" attire so experimenting with textures and patterns is something I need to start doing more often.
I wore this outfit to go out for coffee and make a Fine Wine and Good Spirits (Pennsylvania folks know what I'm talking about) run with Danielle on NYE. The coffee was good... the trip to the liquor store proved to be fruitless. I don't think I've ever seen so many people in one place here before. Except for maybe when the Pope visited. It was as if we were expecting the blizzard of the century and everybody HAD to stock up on booze-- not just to drink but to also barter with when the snowy chaos would inevitably render our money worthless. There were people wandering around with multiple boxes of wine. Just seemed a little unnecessary to me.
This outfit was pretty boring when I first put it on but I didn't really care. After all, I was just going a few blocks from my apartment. Nothing special at all! I wanted to challenge myself though to I looked at my plain striped tee and black leggings and thought how can I make this better? I traded my grey hat for this pink one, (which I've been wearing pretty much every day) my slip-on Star Wars Vans for my mules (not as comfy but also not terrible for having some height to them) then tied my shirt in a knot. You know, to make it interesting. Then, as I went to grab for my trusty denim jacket, Brenden's thrifted grandpa sweater caught my eye. It was just what I needed!

E.M., I seriously love your photos so much. They ooze coolness. (That might just be the most uncool comment ever, but whatever!)

DeleteI love this outfit so much! Do you remember where you got that striped shirt? xo
ReplyDeleteHey! Whoops, completely forgot to put the links at the bottom haha. I got it at PacSun, it's from their collab with Brandy Melville.
DeleteGreat look! Love the hat!
