date night in a jar!

Ever have the most perfect idea for a date night, forget to write it down, then have no ideas for a date when the time comes around? It happens all too often. You and your man can't decide on what you want to do, you bicker a little, and you end up staying at home watching Netflix. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) The worst part is, once you find something that you want to do, it's rarely mutual. Here is a simple (and cost-effective!) remedy to that! The best part is that you can make it with materials that you have on hand. (Just paper and a tin!)

Write down some fun ideas on little pieces of paper, fold them, and put them in a cute tin, jar, or box. You can write the ideas down with your man or you can surprise him! CJ's still in Brooklyn working so I wrote down some ideas for when he gets home. To be honest, I think I may have had a little bit too much fun with this one. I started out simple, like "Ikea," "looking at puppies," and "picnic," moved on to less common ones such as "test drive a car" and "plan a trip to take someday," and ended up with some unique ones like "run up and down the Art Museum steps like Rocky." Also, most of the ideas end with "...and then get coffee." The best part is, besides my "jackpot" Vedge paper, (an AMAZING vegan restaurant in Philly!) none of the date ideas cost more than $20 for two people. Actually, most of them are free! There are some that I'm particularly excited to pick out, like "walk across the Brooklyn Bridge" and "find out who's playing a show in Philly and go... unless its Nickelback." I can't wait to go through these ideas and to write some more. What would you guys include in your date jar? I'd love to hear about it!

  1. totally doing this as a new year resolution! i love jars like this {we have a thankful jar and chore jars} so it will fit perfect in our home. i also just got an awesome idea to make a 'dates with my daughter' jar as we welcomed baby #2 into our home almost 9 months ago and are always finding ways to have one on one time with her. shes 10 years older than baby brother so we want her to know she is loved too. thanks for sharing!
