If you're been following along on Instagram then you know that Danielle and I took a road trip to Nashville last week. We decided that escaping city life was an absolute necessity so we stopped at Cherokee National Forest on the way home for a night in the wilderness. Camping isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be; I'm a huge fan of roasting veggies over an open fire, exploring, and settling down to enjoy the soft breeze with a good book. My phone died, which was the best thing that could have happened. No email, no texts, no distractions. It was as if the "reset" button was pressed, which I've found is an important thing to do every once in a while.
There truly is nothing like raw, uninhibited nature. When I was a kid, I was enamored by cities. The tall buildings would captivate me so much and I would stand in awe of the fact that those towering steel and concrete structures were created by the hands of men. Now, treelines and riverbeds inspire the same childlike wonder in me. Not that men have created such beauty but that we have not destroyed it.
xo,
e.m.
I think I could camp? I think? I can't solidly commit because well, it's 2015 and there's a reason that we have electricity.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I didn't think that I could either but it was a joy! (And I'm not just saying that!) Start small-- definitely go somewhere with *actual* bathrooms and whatnot.
DeleteMe and camping have a love/hate relationship. My problem is I always think back on camping with such fond memories, but when it's time to lay down and go to sleep (or pee in the middle of the night), I'm like, "Oh yeah, this is why you aren't a natural born camper Violet."
ReplyDeleteAlso, Ass Man.
Yeah, I made sure to thoroughly drain my bladder before going to sleep. I know people who go REALLY hard with camping but I don't think I could do it for more than a night or two.
DeleteHaha Assman!
ReplyDeleteI am not a camper but I love an adventure. I just like to sleep in a real bed after said adventure! This looks absolutely stunning though!
Thank you! Camping's not so bad! I will say however, I'm investing in an air mattress for next time. My back didn't take too kindly to sleeping on the ground.
DeleteI've been really feeling the pull to camp and spend some time in nature for a while, but this post really did it for me. I think I'm going to go plan a trip for sometime soon! Also, these photos are beautiful and I love your visual perspective. Lovely!
