Weekend Wears

I finally (temporarily) have my weekends back which means family time and day trips. Jenna, Brenden and I spent our Saturday gallivanting around Bucks County. We're an interesting bunch to be around because our conversations have no logical flow whatsoever and we've been known to erupt into roaring laughter with no warning. It's great for us but probably a little terrifying for those privy to it.

a day at the art museum

Jenna and I spent the day at the Philadelphia Art Museum, or as the 12-year-old boy inside of me likes to say, the "Phart" Museum. We walked around for hours and then went out to the front of the museum and acted like TOTAL tourists and took Rocky'esque pictures on the infamous steps. Don't regret it at all! Sorry if the pictures are a little crooked and whatnot. There were security guards EVERYWHERE and I was afraid that they'd see my larger-than-life Nikon and confiscate it somehow. (It's happened before.) After a day full of walking around in Swedish clogs and looking at art, it feels good to sit on the sofa. I had one of those "you don't realize how tired you are and how much your feet hurt until you finally rest" moments. Whew. Hope all of you had as fun of a Sunday as I did!

waterfall braids

Everybody is making these precious braids so when I saw my sister sporting them I stopped her in her tracks and asked her to do a tutorial for the blog. I think they're so cute and such a great look for summer. I'd wear my hair like this on a date night with a nice sundress, how would you wear them?If you can make a regular french braid, you should be able to make this braid with no problems. As with most braids, this one works best with second or third-day hair. If you try it right after you wash/condition, the hair will be a little more difficult to manage because it'll be slipping out everywhere. The first thing that you're going to do is to take three small sections of hair in the front. You're going to braid these in a normal braid. Once you get to the temple, begin a french braid. While making your french braid, however, leave out the last section. Let it fall naturally and then pick up a new piece. Keep doing this until your waterfall braid reaches the desired length. To end it, just clip it back with a bobby pin. (Or whichever kind of clip you choose!)

Cute and classy right? Jenna made hers a little chunkier, you can make yours however you'd like.
