A Walk with my Love
"It isn’t possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right: love is eternal."
- E.M. Forster, A Room with a View
I've had a little extra "pep" in my step lately. While I've maintained my daily recommended amount of realism, everything has been slightly rose-tinted. Being in love does that, I suppose. Falling in love is bliss but falling on love again after being reunited years later is ethereal.
We went for a walk the other day. It was just an ordinary walk but I found so much joy in it. If you've never been in love, that's what everything starts to feel like. The mundane becomes extraordinary and every day is another chance to learn something new about this human you've chosen to do life alongside of. Words cease to simply exist; they become poetry. His voice becomes this song you can't live without. You find more comfort in his eyes or his smile than you could have ever found elsewhere. Every day greets you with something beautiful. The sun seems to reach down and gently touch your face in the morning. On your way to work, dead leaves picked up by the wind seem to dance on the street in a congratulatory way, like a choreographed testament to the splendor of being captivated by somebody. Night seems more intriguing than frightening and its chilly breezes invite adventure. Everything is different. Everything is brilliantly illuminated. And with this one, I can tell that nothing will ever be the same again.

the franklin

It was one of those weekends. I had two weddings, CJ has all sorts of deadlines. By the time Monday came around, we decided that for our own sanity, we HAD to take a day off! While enjoying a cozy little breakfast downtown, we decided to make the short trip to Philly and explore a little. We went to The Franklin Institute, which immediately made us ask each other, "why didn't we do this sooner?" I have a major crush on Benjamin Franklin. I'm a science nerd. We're both little kids at heart. It was bliss! We ended the day with a late lunch at Marathon, one of our favorite eateries around here. Bacon burger for him, veggie burger for me, it's a win all around! I love our date days and I love being able to write about them. Have any of you gone on any good dates lately? We're always looking for ideas!xo, e.m. (& CJ)
boyish things

Now that we're living a bit farther from each other, CJ and I have been thinking of different ways to bond from a distance. It just so happens that one of those ways is Fantasy Football, for which our draft was today. Can I just say that it was some of the most fun we've had together in a while? I learned a little about football and a lot about my man. I learned that he might be one of the few people on the world who can effectively explain a concept to me on the first try. That's what love language is all about, right? We're both very competitive people so it'll be interesting when the week comes that we're playing against each other. I'll keep you posted though, I think we all know who will win. The Icebox! (That's my team name. Little Giants, anybody?) But seriously, if your man is into sports and you're just not, this is a great way to get into them and do game day together, because trust me, I used to dread Sunday afternoons because there 1,001 things I would rather do! Now, I'm happily looking forward to them.

spontaneity is the spice of life

Today, while driving back from a wedding rehearsal down the shore (or, for those who don't speak fluent Jersey, "at the beach.") CJ and I both gasped at the sight of a random graffiti-covered building with three walls sitting next to the highway. We made a U-Turn (probably not the smartest idea in hindsight) and staged an impromptu photoshoot. Lesson learned: never leave the house without your camera! Also, we found some pretty inspiring (albeit cliché) words of wisdom that seemed to appear at the most perfect time. It just goes to show that it's often worthwhile to do something crazy and unplanned every once in a while. You never know what you'll get out of it.

birthday snapshots
Today is my hunnie's birthday so we went out to a cozy little lunch at the Pop Shop Collingswood, NJ. It's so cute inside and they have some great vegan selections on the menu (for me) and an extensive list of breakfast items. (for CJ!) It helps also that Historic Downtown Collingwood is absolutely adorable! If you're ever in the area you should stop by, especially if you like milkshakes and such! They have a HUGE menu of them, the hard part is just having enough room after your meal. We certainly didn't today!

meet cj!
You've all heard me talk about him and I'm sure you've seen pictures, but I don't believe I've ever formally introduced you to my boyfriend CJ. He's wonderful and I still get butterflies thinking about him. He's in Brooklyn right now and I miss him SO much! He's a hip-hop producer and he makes some AMAZING music. He also happens to be the one who inspired and encouraged me to start my own business, and he's the one who keeps me sane through it all! It's great dating someone who is also living the same kind of self-employed lifestyle, he understands me a lot more than my friends and even my family sometimes! I'm so proud of him and what he's doing and all of the exciting things that he has on the horizon! Check out his website and his discography if you have a chance, you might find something that you love! Also, here is his Twitter and his Facebook Fan Page.
