the last of the summer rains

As I was getting ready to leave (again) today, the heavens opened up and the entire house took on this eerie glow. It's been raining a lot here, but this was the kind of rain that only happens at the end of the summer. The skies let loose as if to purge every last drop before the coolness of fall can settle in. It's a great time of the year. I'm excited for fall hikes, gingersnap liqueur (I'm waiting until the first day of autumn to pop this one open, for now, it makes a nice decorative piece) and fall decor. (As you can see, some of it snuck in already.) I'm also excited for the big and somewhat scary but mostly exciting changes that are happening in my own life. Although I have fall fever, I'm going to enjoy these last few days of summer. Hope you all do the same!

  1. I love this. The end of summer rains are my favorite. I adore Fall, and those last rains are the best time of year for me. They seem to clear out all the heavy pollen and I can breathe again, and I get to stay inside with a good book and the windows open. These pictures are beautiful, I can never seem to capture the rain as well as you have here.

  3. I'm very excited for the coziness and crispy air, but at the same time I hate seeing summer go... It always seems like a very long time between September and May, and I just want to get as much sunshine and picnics as possible.
