Beauty for Fall

I know we're still about a week away from actually fall but that doesn't mean we can't start getting our autumn faces ready. For me, this season is all about rich color and layering textures. I barely fuss with my makeup in the summer because I know I'm going to sweat it all off anyway but come September, I go all in. Here are some of my favorites!

Obviously, starting with a nice, smooth face is key. I've tried a lot of skincare products but couldn't quite find a routine that I really LOVED until about a month ago. At night, I start by gently exfoliating with a salt scrub and I don't get too fancy with it. You can make your own at home but I love this Lavender one from Trader Joe's. (I know, right?) After that, I wash my face with Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser, pat dry, then rub in some Midnight Recovery Concentrate. By morning, my skin is flawless. (Except for around that time of the month... but there's really nothing I can do about that.) Once a week, I use a sheet mask, but it's taken me forever to find one that I actually like using. I hate the cold, sticky, syrupy feeling that a lot of them have so I use this one from DR. JART. The texture is a little more creamy (think lotion!) so it freaks me out a lot less.

Now that I have a skin regimen that works for me, I have to do a lot less work with foundation and concealer. I know it's "so highschool" but bareMinerals does wonders for me so I'll keep using it as long as I have to. I don't fuss too much with bronzer, especially in the beginning of fall while I'm still sporting a (sort of) tan. I do love to add some blush though, and this plum one from Chanel is perfect. You've probably seen it here before because I've been using the same shade for at least three years. They recently stopped making the exact color but "Rosewood" is a really great match.

For the eyes, I love to overdo it. I've discovered the importance of starting out with a primer and this one by Urban Decay works really well. For eyeshadow, this Ciaté x Olivia Palermo palette is the stuff of dreams. (And currently on sale.) I rarely rock a liquid liner in the summer so as soon as there's just a hint of chill in the air, I go full-on cat eye. I've been loving Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner in Trooper. I've been experimenting with a ton of different mascaras-- mostly way too expensive-- and have finally found one that is exactly what I was looking for. The best part? It's only THREE DOLLARS. It's e.l.f.'s Volume and Plumping mascara and you can find it at Target. If for some strange reason you don't have a Target near you, you can grab it here. Equally important, if not more so, is a good eyebrow to top it off. Benefit's Gimme Brow is fantastic and keeps my brows looking fantastic all day long.

Last but not least, the lips. I find exfoliating the lips is just as important as exfoliating everything else. Lush's lip scrubs are my favorite because they have the best flavors and they're edible. As far as lipstick goes, the combination of Mac's Whirl liner and Velvet Teddy lipstick will always be my favorite but I'm branching out a bit. I tried out a few Liquid Suede cream lipsticks from NYX, and my favorites are definitely Soft Spoken and Vintage.

What are some of your favorite beauty products for fall?

  1. I'm wearing soft spoken right now! Vintage looks like the perfect wine red, which I've never tried before, but I plan to this fall.

    1. Isn't it the BEST? I highly recommend Vintage for a nighttime look. It's so rich and probably my favorite deep red lip color I've ever tried.

    1. They're the best! Just make sure you use a liner with them. They're much easier to put on that way.
