Electric Street, Gingham Dress

Long time no see! Sorry I haven't posted in a bit, I've been pretty busy and let's face it: who actually looks good enough to have her picture taken in this summer heat? Not I. I do have to show off this little gingham number I picked up while looking for some new work clothes on ASOS. 

Now that I'm trying to really simplify my wardrobe, finding pieces that can transition from work to play with little effort has been my mission. That's why I love this little dress: rock it with a blazer in the office, then ditch the blazer and add a fun necklace for a casual-but-still-put-together look. For an extra layer of "fun," I tied a bandana around my bag, which is an easy (and inexpensive!) way to transform an "okay" bag into a bold statement piece. 

So you may be wondering about this perfectly colorful mural behind me. It's one of Philly's newest pieces of public art and it lights up at night! Gizmodo did a little story about it which is absolutely worth a read. It's one of the ways Philly is trying to combat crime and apparently it's already working. (Plus it's just so darn cute!)
