about you:

I've noticed over the past few months that my readership has been growing (yay!) so I've decided to do a new little series at the beginning of every month: I want to get to know about you! I've gotten so many sweet emails from some of you and I'd love to know more about you all.

So here's how it'll work: the first few questions will be pretty normal, and the last one or two will change from month-to-month. It could be funny, tender, a chance for you to show off superfluous trivia skills... anything. Be prepared to answer some pretty weird questions in the months to come. Here's what to leave in the comments this month:

Name:
Blog/Website:
What brings you here?:
Would you rather go into the past and meet your ancestors or go into the future and meet your great grandchildren?:

Feel free to be as descriptive or as vague as you desire. Looking forward to hearing your answers!

xo,
e.m.

What brings you here?:You were recommended by another blog top fashion bloggers you should follow or something like that. I was following most of them already but you were new.
Would you rather go into the past and meet your ancestors or go into the future and meet your great grandchildren?: The past. I feel like the future is fluid, it could change easily. But the past has already happened. It would be so neat to see where I come from and if I really am the odd one out or if I have a great aunt or cousin that loves fashion as much as I do.

What brings you here? I follow your blog via bloglovin' and love seeing your photography :)

Would you rather go into the past and meet your ancestors or go into the future to meet your great grandchildren? I would much rather meet my ancestors. My grandmother is always telling me about her parents/grandparents/great grandparents and where we all came from. I would love to meet the family I've always heard about. I don't think I'd ever want to dabble with the future. The past fascinates me :)

    1. Hello Em! Glad to meet you. The culture of bygone eras intrigues me as well, we're kindred spirits! Also, welcome to the blogosphere! (I think that might have been the first time that word has been used since the early 2000's.) If you ever have any blogging questions or anything, let me know! (My email is erika[at]larkandlace[dot]com.) I know that it can be confusing and a bit scary in the beginning and that having someone around to answer questions and give advice is important. I'm always here to chat if need be!

What brings you here?: Bloglovin' recommended you to me, I think! And you're quickly becoming a favourite read.

Would you rather go into the past and meet your ancestors or go into the future and meet your great grandchildren?: Absolutely my ancestors. My mum has done heaps of genealogical work (tracing as far back as the 1600s!) and there have been some really fascinating women in my family - I would love to meet a even few of them.
Plus... the future is terrifying to me!

    1. Hi Angela! First of all, thank you! It means a lot. Little side note, I wish I could spell "favorite" in the British way like you do. A little jealous that you get to do that. I agree with you 100% about getting to know the women in your family. I'd love to do the same. It's so nice to meet you!

    2. No need to be jealous, just come on up to Canada! Our speech is a funny mix of British and American English, and you can put a U in whatever word you like. :)

what brought me: the sponsorship post YESTERDAY on Blythe Ponytail Parade (I stalked your blog yesterday and enjoyed it so!)

ancestors or great grandchildren: I find this question terrifying because both could hold such great disappointment (I find this thought odd because I'm normally such a 'half-full' kind of person). BUT, after thinking this over for the last ten minutes or so (I know...) I'd have to choose great grandchildren. If for some reason something had gone wrong, I'd have the opportunity to try to make it right with them.

    1. Hello Andrea! Nice to meet you :) I was definitely a staunch "I wanna see how my ancestors lived!" kinda gal but your answer might have changed my mind. Which is saying a lot because I tend to be a bit stubborn. Very nice to meet you!

  11. Hi Hi!
My name is Nicole. I have two blogs, because I'm not sure if I should mix business with pleasure. So, for now I am keeping them (some what) separate.
    http://Getsocialco.com and http://cupcakesglitterandart.blogspot.com/

I discovered your blog via bloglovin, but i can't remember which blog I found you through. Sorry!

I would want to go into the future and meet the grand kids, for sure! Let them know that they should appreciate their parents and tell them all their Mom's embarrassing stories...hahahaha!

  13. Hi, Erika! What a wonderful new series-- it's bound to be a lot of fun!

Name: Melanie (with no shortage of nicknames: Lani, Mei-Mei, Em-- I'll save the more embarrassing ones for another day.)

    Blog/Website: On Windswept Lane

What brings me back daily:Your gorgeous photography reeled me in, but your positive attitude & refreshing perspective was the hook, line, & sinker. (Sorry for all the fishing analogies, but I just got off the phone with my dad, ha.)

Would you rather go into the past and meet your ancestors or go into the future and meet your great grandchildren?: I'd definitely want to go to the future & see the grandkids! If for some reason the legacy I leave behind takes a wrong turn then I'd have the ability to choose a different path in hopes of a better outcome. Of course Nicole's (^^^) reasoning would be fun, too! ;)
