Last December and into January, I traveled to China with 13 other people to hang out and help out in a special needs orphanage, Shepherd's Field Children's Village. I absolutely fell in love with the people, the country, the culture, and, of course, the children. My goal was to return as soon as possible, and I'm still hoping to make that a reality! It's sad though, that with every day that passes, my time there gets further in the past and the busyness of everyday life causes me to sometimes forget about the incredible trip that I took. Last night, two of my friends (who went to China also!) got married and they had a table just for the people who went on the China trip. Although a few of us were missing, it was so good to be reunited! I spent the entire rest of the night and a large part of this morning reminiscing, which I should really do more often.
All in all, it was an amazing experience. I'll never forget those kids. Oh, and The Great Wall? Impressive, but the mountains around it were completely and utterly breathtaking. If you ever visit, I highly suggest taking a toboggan ride down!

DeleteWow. So cool! I'm actually going to Kazakhstan to volunteer in a special needs orphanage next year! Looks like I might have to visit China to do the same as well someday! :)
