Muse: Françoise Hardy

Ever fall into a rut and need some fresh inspiration? I'm there. Oh yes, I'm there. Whenever I need a little boost of creativity, I turn to the internet. Lately I've been into dreamy 60's vibes. My Google image search history is full of ladies like Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot (MAKEUP GOALS) but my all-time favorite will forever be Françoise Hardy. If you don't know her, it's alright: no judgments here. She's a French chanteuse who changed a lot of style conventions in her time. She was sort of the free-spirited, gentle-mannered answer to "Bardot culture." She didn't wear a ton of makeup. She was a breath of fresh air in a time where femininity was over-exaggerated. Designer Nicolas Ghesquière once called her "the essence of French style." She's effortlessly chic, which is what Parisienne chic is all about. (At least to me!)

Springtime Boots

These boots are one of the most polarizing items in my closet. Some love 'em. Some hate 'em. They may be uncomfortable and a tad impractical but I embrace them. They make me feel like Nancy Sinatra, which is a little-known remedy for the mid-week blues.

I'm Having A Weird Day

Quinoa and zucchini for breakfast. Taxes. A playlist containing Sleigh Bells and Frank Sinatra. It's been a weird day and it's not even halfway over yet.

XXX

I've started typing then deleted this post about five or six times. I put it away and came back to it about a week later. I didn't know how to talk about it without coming across as some sort of pontifical brat. I'll just put it simply: I gave up drinking, and no mom, it's not because I'm pregnant.

Over(it)alls

Yesterday was one of those "I brushed my hair out a little too much and now I look like a Cocker Spaniel and I keep embarrassing myself" kinda days. I was over it all pretty early in the day, which is why I wore my overalls.

Sustainable Shopping with Greene Street

Thank you Greene Street for sponsoring this post!

Who isn't at least thinking about shopping ethically and eco-consciously lately? Like many of you, it's something I've thought about but didn't know where to start. Luckily, my friend Alli at Greene Street invited me to come to the store on South Street to play dress up and learn a little bit about fashion and sustainability.

Spring Around Philly

I've been getting SO many questions from readers who say they're heading to Philly this season. It's exciting because Philly is a fantastic city with so much to offer to visitors. Now that the weather has been getting warmer, I've found myself wandering around like a tourist because I just love this city so much. Since I've been getting so many questions and the last time I did a guide was in the fall, I figured I'd do another one. Once again, this is NOT an exhaustive list. I know I'm going to miss some things. I'm only human. Bear with me and if there's something that desperately needs to make its way into the guide, let me know in the comments!
