Pink & More Pink

Is it spring yet? No, not quite, but this warm, rainy weather kinda makes me feel otherwise. I made a goal at the beginning of the year to incorporate more color into my wardrobe. (Since, you know, I pretty much only ever wear black or neutrals.) How about head-to-toe pink? Does this mean I can wear dull colors for the rest the year now? (Just kidding, I had a lot of fun wearing this outfit.)

Denim & White Sneakers

I've been falling away from blogging a bit, something I know should come as no surprise to those of you who've followed for a while. I've been in a rut, uninspired, and, worst of all, stuck comparing myself to everyone else who seems to be killing the game. You know the kind of people I'm talking about. Endless wardrobe, seemingly constantly aesthetically-pleasing surroundings, doing nothing but floating from coffee shop to coffee shop creating great and engaging content. I don't know if I can keep up with it. I tried for a while and realized how disingenuous it all is. I look at some bloggers' feeds and think to myself, "damn! Who is financing this wildly aspirational lifestyle? Where are you storing these outfits full of pieces that never seen to repeat? Who the fu** needs that many handbags?" I took a few short breaks from social media because of it. I ended up feeling frustrated with the state of my hair, the shape of my body, and the fact that, more often than not, my ensembles are a little less than blogworthy.

Schoolgirl Skirt

I love looks like this that I can get away with wearing over and over and over again. It's simple, timeless, and bold. Pleated mini skirt, white button-down, and vegan leather jacket? Three completely necessary wardrobe staples in my opinion. 

Herringbone & Cognac

It's difficult to not feel like a Princeton professor in a herringbone blazer but I think there are worst things to dress up as so I'm just going to let it happen. This one is classic. I love its long silhouette and simple pattern. It's easy to dress up with its matching skirt or over a black dress but today, I opted to dress it down. Some raw-edge wide leg denim and cognac clogs were a perfect match.

What Else? All Black.

If you've been following this blog for a while, you know that 2017 was the year I discovered and came to love statement denim. This skirt is certainly no exception. If you've been around here before, you know I'm a huge fan of denim on denim. Same shade, different shade, blue jeans with a black jean jacket, black jeans with a blue jean jacket-- it's all good here. While I was shopping around River Island's website to pick out some looks, I had to control myself from getting all denim. (They just have so many great options!) What do you do when you have a lot of denim? You wear it all together, of course.

What can I say? Autumn is my season. I love boots and long sleeves and being able to drink hot coffee outside without nearly melting to death. Nothing compares to the sound of freshly-fallen leaves crunching underfoot or the rush from taking a deep breath of crisp morning air. This look is the sartorial equivalent of everything I love about October.

Fall Florals

Florals for fall: love 'em? Hate 'em? They've been a constant in my life. I'd like to think about this look as a grown up version of this floral robe outfit from 2013. (Warning: images are a bit cringeworthy.) 

A Vintage Dress

When I first started this blog, I wore some kind of vintage dress almost every day. It's been a while (five and a half years!) and a lot has changed since then. I don't wear dresses too often anymore but these retro beauties will always have a special place in my heart. My wardrobe has completely transformed but this little number has stayed with me. The drop waist is so very French-- effortlessly chic.

This look puts together some of my favorite pieces for fall: a simple mini skirt, booties, a classic black bag, and a fun hat. It's sort of a "best of" from the French muses of the 70's. When in doubt, you can't go wrong with black on black on black on herringbone. (Keep that in mind if you need to put together an effortless but polished look any time soon.)
