his & hers

Just two best friends grabbing soy cappuccinos, enjoying a little stroll and snapping some candid photographs. Okay, maybe not the last one but definitely the first two. The weather has been more than perfect lately-- the perfect temperature for walking around outside with hot coffee and not overheating but also not drinking it for the sole purpose of keeping warm. Balance. Fall is close!

what we wore:

Neither of our outfits today are particularly spectacular but they're a pretty decent sampling of what we wear on a normal day. He loves mixing tees, black pants, and dress shoes. I love putting together flowing tops, blazers, jeans, Mary Janes, and lots of black. Oh, and a felt hat, of course.

Flips

It's no secret that music is pretty important here at lark & lace. I love sharing new (and old) tunes with y'all so of course I was so excited when Flips contacted me to try out a pair of headphones for them. I've been on the hunt for some comfortable headphones that also have great sound quality for quite some time, and I must say, these do it for me. Not only can they be used for your own personal enjoyment, but if you flip the earpieces out, they turn into speakers. So cool, right? I had my audiophile hip-hop producer boyfriend and my show promoter best friend (who also happens to have a blog) came over and try them out with me. We all loved 'em!

Some of our thoughts? CJ loved the design. It's certainly difficult to find a pair of headphones that are comfortable on the ears and on the head, and he said that these would be great for lengthy studio sessions and long trips. As for the audio, after listening to a few different genres, he says that they offer a nice, balanced feel. He noted that the panning is distinguishable and you'll appreciate the separation of sound. He's always been a staunch anti-earbud advocate (with good reason) and says that these would be a great alternative. As for Maddy, she noted the smooth, crisp sound, with deepness and heartiness. She listened to an alternative song with the headphones and was able to hear every instrument, vocal, and backing track perfectly. The sound was clear, strong, and at a comfortable level even when you flipped the ear pads outward. The headphones are extremely comfortable and durable, and travel friendly. I loved the simple yet classy design and the timeless quality. In fact, everything about the product is of the highest quality. I was actually shocked at how solid they were. I wouldn't feel comfortable advocating for a product that I don't absolutely love and that's certainly not the case here-- I love these headphones!

It was so fun to be able to test these bad boys out with my friends. Flips was kind enough to share a promo code that you can use to get $10 off of their product and free upgraded shipping now through July 16th. Just visit their website and enter FA0010INT. Thanks Flips for considering me to test out your product!

Chris Webby, OnCue, Home, Newtown, Connecticut, CJ LuziCJ had the honor of working this past weekend with the artists OnCue and Chris Webby to create a tribute to the children who lost their lives in Newtown, Connecticut last week. You can pick it up here, all of the proceeds will go towards the families affected. Enjoy, and hope you all have a very wonderful Christmas Eve's Eve.

the franklin

It was one of those weekends. I had two weddings, CJ has all sorts of deadlines. By the time Monday came around, we decided that for our own sanity, we HAD to take a day off! While enjoying a cozy little breakfast downtown, we decided to make the short trip to Philly and explore a little. We went to The Franklin Institute, which immediately made us ask each other, "why didn't we do this sooner?" I have a major crush on Benjamin Franklin. I'm a science nerd. We're both little kids at heart. It was bliss! We ended the day with a late lunch at Marathon, one of our favorite eateries around here. Bacon burger for him, veggie burger for me, it's a win all around! I love our date days and I love being able to write about them. Have any of you gone on any good dates lately? We're always looking for ideas!

spontaneity is the spice of life

Today, while driving back from a wedding rehearsal down the shore (or, for those who don't speak fluent Jersey, "at the beach.") CJ and I both gasped at the sight of a  random graffiti-covered building with three walls sitting next to the highway. We made a U-Turn (probably not the smartest idea in hindsight) and staged an impromptu photoshoot. Lesson learned: never leave the house without your camera! Also, we found some pretty inspiring (albeit cliché) words of wisdom that seemed to appear at the most perfect time. It just goes to show that it's often worthwhile to do something crazy and unplanned every once in a while. You never know what you'll get out of it.
