Farm to City Saturdays

Ah, Saturday mornings. Ah, late summer. I cherish these times. I don't get to Rittenhouse Square much in the height (and heat) of summer but once September hits and those brisk late-summer breezes start flowing, it's my favorite place. If you're one for local produce, fancy baked goodies, and fresh blooms there's a really great farmer's market every weekend that's absolutely worth checking out. This weekend, I made my own bouquet, which I triumphantly toted around the square. (And on a little coffee date with my bestie.)

If you've never adorned your home with flowers (actual flowers, not silk ones, although those can be very realistic) you should try it some time. It's an affordable way to brighten a space and since they die, (and although that can be a little sad) you can change it up often to fit your moods. Seeing some nicely-arranged blooms on my windowsill or dresser makes me smile every time.

As for my outfit, I thought I'd keep it simple. These minimalistic looks always end up being my favorite. Black and white, a simple pattern, and some ankle booties with a "twist." Top it off with my favorite Madewell tote and I'm good to go. Oh, and if the dress looks familiar, it's because I wear it all the time.

The more I wander around, the more I fall in love with my city. I'm looking forward to integrating more Philadelphia scenes and landscapes my personal style posts. But more on that later...

  1. You, and the flowers, and the setting, are all gorgeous! I agree with you wholeheartedly that flowers can make a space brighter. I have some sitting on my desk that I need to replace, but while they were alive, they made my day! :)

    1. I have the same thing going on... they were pretty and now they're just really sad-looking. I'll fondly remember the good times.

    1. Thanks! And yes, do it. If you've never seen it before, try cockscomb. I love it and it seriously takes forever to die. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celosia_cristata

  4. No wonder you get so much wear out of that dress! It's perfect. Looks like you are having a great summer (now that the damn relentless heat is over)! I wish we had a farmers market closer but I'd have to drive to one and it seems to take the fun out it!

    1. Thank you! The only thing is that it's a little short/I have a big butt/I completely forget about being a classy lady something and just bend down all willy nilly without even thinking about it then feel like I have to apologize to the world... And you're kinda right! A car is good for when you end up buying EVERYTHING though.
